Transition Strip
A trim piece that bridges two different flooring surfaces or covers an expansion gap between rooms.
Transition strips solve the problem of two adjacent rooms with different flooring types or two adjacent rooms with the same flooring that need an expansion gap. Common types include T-molding, reducer, threshold, and end cap.
Material choice matters: solid hardwood transitions for hardwood floors, color-matched MDF or vinyl for LVP, marble or stone for tile. Most flooring manufacturers sell transitions to match their plank or tile lines.
Always price transitions as line items on the estimate. They're surprisingly expensive ($15-$50 each), and "I assumed those were included" is a common end-of-job dispute that's avoided by listing them up front.
