LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank)

Multi-layer waterproof vinyl flooring made to look like hardwood. Click-lock or glue-down install.

LVP is the dominant residential flooring product in the US market. It's a multi-layer construction: a wear layer, a printed photographic layer, a rigid core (SPC or WPC), and an optional attached underlayment. The result is a fully waterproof floor that looks like hardwood and costs less to install.

Two install methods: click-lock floating (no glue, fastest install, easiest to repair) and glue-down (more permanent, better for high-traffic commercial). Click-lock is the dominant residential method; glue-down dominates commercial.

Pricing typically runs $1.50-$5 per square foot for material and $1.50-$3 per square foot for labor. Total installed cost is usually $4-$8 per square foot — about half the cost of engineered hardwood.
