SPC (Stone Plastic Composite)
A rigid-core LVP construction made with limestone powder for extra dimensional stability.
SPC is one of two rigid-core LVP constructions (the other is WPC). The core is a mix of limestone powder and PVC, which produces a denser, more dimensionally stable plank than WPC. SPC is harder underfoot and more resistant to dents from heavy furniture.
SPC is the right choice for installs where the subfloor has minor imperfections (the rigid core spans them better), where there's heavy rolling traffic (commercial settings), or where the floor will see large temperature swings (sunrooms, vacation properties).
Trade-off vs. WPC: SPC is harder and noisier underfoot. Most SPC products ship with an attached underlayment to soften the feel and reduce sound transmission.
